I am a cancer survivor. In 1997, I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and in 2000, with colon cancer. Michael Schmidt’s biodynamic raw dairy and produce from his farm have been major factors in my remission. According to my oncologist, strengthening my immune system is vital in containing the cancer. An organic lifestyle and the highest quality food available, which is grown on mineral-rich soil, have restored my health. I traveled to Copenhagen to receive holistic treatment at the top cancer clinic in Scandinavia. Their chief oncologist explained that the clinic had been founded by a doctor who had healed herself from cancer with raw, organic foods, including raw dairy. German cancer clinics regularly use raw milk in treating cancer patients. I am dismayed that our government is trying to prevent people like me with life-threatening illnesses from obtaining the life-enhancing food we need. Surely, in a democratic society, individuals should be free to choose their food, especially when Michael Schmidt’s raw dairy consistently tests pure and nutritious.

My name is Iris Ionescu, and along with my husband and daughter have been drinking raw milk for a year and a half. My husband and I are approaching sixty five and have both benefited from this. Like most women my age, I suffer from osteoporosis and degenerative rheumatoid arthritis. Half a year after I began drinking the milk the disease stopped advancing, and has not advanced since. My husband is a diabetic, and as most insulin dependent diabetics, has a very low immune system. Since drinking the raw milk his situation has improved dramatically. Although my daughter does not suffer from any ailments, she also enjoys the raw milk and has made it a staple of her diet.

Approximately 3 years ago I was introduced to the concept of Raw Milk….as part of my research I read “The Milk Book” written by Dr William Campbell Douglass MD …I continued to search the internet which led me to additional supporting information….
While looking for a source of raw milk I learned of Michael Schmidt … I contacted Michael and visited the farm…I was immediately captivated by his knowledge, the cleanliness of the barn, the care for and serenity of the animals as well as critical attention to hygiene during the milking and bottling process….including regular testing for pathogens.
I have been using Michael’s Raw Milk products for over 2 years now….my health has improved significantly as a direct result….
It’s time that people learn the truth ….to stop misinformation from powerful commercial interests…
It’s most important that we have freedom of choice and opportunity to choose those foods which promote health.

Since I am a relative newbie to Glencolton Farms (just shy of a year now), I haven’t much to relate. I love the taste of the milk we receive from our cows and I do believe it does us good. However, on a more long term and perhaps relevant score, I can tell you that I grew up on raw milk.
I grew up in Denmark in a family of dairy farmers. My grandparents and my aunt and uncle alike raised dairy cows. I used to visit both farms with great regularity. And, when at my grandparents’ farm, it was often my chore - during the evening feed and milking – to bring from the kitchen my grandmother’s two clean, but un-sterilized glass milk bottles and bring them to the barn. I would then go to the machine room, where the milk was stored in a big, stainless steel cooling tank. I would lift the lid and, using a stainless steel vessel kept there for that purpose, I would transfer milk to the bottles, which I would then bring back to the kitchen. This is how my whole family took its milk for not only my whole life, but also those of many generations preceding mine. Today, I have two sets of uncles and aunts who are still running dairy farms – farms that have been in our family for centuries – and who continue to drink their own raw milk and giving it to their kids, of course. The dairy farming side of my family is very sizeable and I have *never* known of anyone who has had any kind of illness or ailment which could in anyway be connected to their consumption of raw dairy.

I have been drinking this milk for approximately 8 years. At 30 years of age I finally figured out I was allergic to milk after stomach aches my whole life and doctors not figuring out why. So I totally stopped milk at that age. I also raised my children without cow's milk thinking they would have similar sensitivities. So at some point about 8 years ago I had myself and my daughter tested with Michael's milk and grocery store milk and that is why I now drink this milk because the results were positive for Michaels and negative for the other.

I have been used to eating raw milk products for most of my life having lived in Germany. I was thrilled when my neighbour told me about the availability of these products in Ontario and begged her to bring me a couple of the products home. I have been diagnosed with osteopenia (one step before osteoporosis) and in the year that I have been able to consume raw milk products, my condition has stabilized and even reversed - the nutrients and the benefits are that measurable!! It is inconceivable that the Ontario/Canadian government is so far behind the times - what has been accepted and practice in Europe for centuries!

My husband and three children and I have been using raw milk products for the past four to five years. Families and children are so busy these days and don't always make the best food choices. I have felt so grateful that everyday I know they are getting the best and highest quality nutrition from the milk they are drinking. My children are 12, 15 and 17 years old and all of them are very excited on Tuesday when I bring home fresh milk. After drinking this milk for a year they started to complain when drinking pasturized milk, saying "it tastes funny, it must have gone bad". Shortly after that they just stopped drinking pasturized milk, saying "that's not milk". I truely feel that if we were not able to get raw milk we would all be missing out on the great health benefits that this natural, good and wholesome product provides for us.

We live in a great country but … it’s killing us slowly. The Canadian government has sold us out to the multi-million dollar corporations who are poisoning us with their genetically modified foods and now Monsanto wants to own the seeds of the Earth. They want to be gods. What evil is this? I am outraged that the Canadian government would choose to go after the little farmer who has made a conscious and moral decision to support mankind and the Earth by providing raw milk and foods that are healthful and beneficial to the human being. I am a conscious and educated consumer and I choose what I put into my body. Raw milk is a perfectly balanced food with healing properties especially for those of us who suffer from digestive disorders caused by the processed foods that have become the staple Canadian diet. I have visited this farm in question, and have complete trust in the ethics of the farmer and the handling of the foods. All week I’ve been reading about the unexplainably high rate of cancer in our country. Is this so surprising given that “we are what we eat!” What will happen to our future; our children who have been weaned on these “denatured foods?” We can already see some of the results – our children are fat, so it’s reported, they have chemical sensitivities and are hyperactive, and then we turn them into zombies by treating them with Ritalin. Come on Canada, wake up! Go after the real criminals … please!

We have a 3 ½ year old boy who is been drinking raw milk from Glencolton Farms ever since he started drinking cow’s milk. In fact I think even earlier because I was drinking raw milk while breastfeeding him. He is a healthy and happy child who was never sick besides the occasional and welcomed minor colds. In fact a lot of people around us (including his fam. Doctor) have noticed he has a very good immune system. I can not imagine him being deprived of such a potent and nourishing source as well as of all the other wonderful products we get through Glencolton Farms. We believe farmer and musician-conductor and wonderful human being Michael Schmidt is a “Rara Avis” and therefore must be protected!

Raw milk is a world wide issue; coming from Australia we are subjected
to the same fear campaign. it is quite legal to allow 18 year olds to
drink alcohol till they can't stand up and make themselves ill but it
is a jail sentence if a farmer sells you a litre of raw milk with all
the goodness we need for the body to stay well. I am not sure if starving yourself will help but I understand and I so wish it had not come to this.

I have reading about your situation in the news media. Your
farming practices are intrinisically allied with Nature because you
respect the earth, and therefore, ulltimately she supports your
livelihood. You do not violate the laws of nature - you uphold them. People support you because you are truthful in your profession - you walk the talk. I am a vegetarian and try to eat organic as much as possible. I support you in what you are doing and in what you stand for, Michael.

I have allergies to hundreds of environmental and food substances, the chief one being the protein in milk. I can drink and use raw milk and cheeses from Glencolton Farms! This is a miracle for me. Also, my daughter Emily was born after 28 weeks gestation, weighing in a 2lbs, 7oz. She has been consuming raw milk since age three and is doing very well - so far she hasn't got a lot of allergies and this is also a miracle after her difficult first year! We are very grateful for all the biodynamic foods from Glencolton. Thank you to the Schmidts for being there!

I consider my chance of being part of Michael Schmidt’s cow share program the most important step toward improving the quality of food consumed in my family. For some time before joining the program I was aware that, if my husband I will have a child, we would have to find alternate (out of the supermarket shelves) sources of nourishing him and us. Luckily, after researching existing (and very, very limited) alternatives in Toronto and surroundings, I encountered Michael and he accepted our membership. Now, after almost six years of consuming the raw milk, cheese, sour cream, yogurt and butter provided by him I could not find it acceptable to provide something different to my family (including my 3 year old daughter). And for very obvious reasons: the quality of these products is the highest as they come from a farmer that understands not only how to milk the cows and process the milk but most importantly how to raise healthy cows for the ultimate scope of obtaining food with high nutritional value, clean and as natural as nature intended it to be. The bio-dynamic farming that Michael practices is in agreement with the laws of nature as he understands the needs of the land, the needs of the animals and of the people he serves. When I serve his products to my family, I am assured that they get true, real food, the same food that has nourished the vitality and the physical and mental strengths of our ancestors. I would not settle for anything less.
