I've been following the recent media reports with much personal interest.....I have been a cow share member of Michael Schmidt for over 2 years and drink Raw Milk daily......
I am 56 years old, a Professional Engineer by training. I have a strong interest in health and wellness and as such did my due diligence before using Raw Milk.....I also have had Ulcerative Colitis since I was diagnosed and hospitalized at the age of 23....I chose to stop all drugs for this condition approx 1990 ....this wasn't because they "cured" me but due to the damage they were doing.
If anyone would be at risk to the pathogens described it would be myself.....I have only experienced improvements in my health since I began using Raw Milk......I am quite capable of making my own decisions regarding what I put into my body.....in fact I do so regularly by avoiding products, foods, drugs, vaccines etc that Health Departments and Governments deem legal and helpful to the population but are actually harmful...I also take full responsibility for my choices.
I agree that it is critical to ensure that bacterial levels are within acceptable limits.....they are at Glencolton Farms ...this farm should be a "model" for the industry.
What about the health of the cows?....how they're fed, medicated, raised etc.....this directly affects the properties and nutrients of the milk......again, Glencolton Farms should be a "model" for the industry.
I do not need or want the York Region Health Department or any level of Government to make choices for me......I have no reason for confidence in their decisions....I see lack of understanding and political expediency at a minimum.....I speak for many.....
Your understanding of the health benefits of Raw Milk vs Pasteurized Milk is lacking .... your understanding of the risks of illness from Raw Milk products from Glencolton Farms is lacking....I suggest you do your due diligence with an independent, open mind ....
I suggest you review www.realmilk.com as well as reading The Milk Book by William Campbell Douglass, MD ......for a factual, unbiased account of the issue of Raw vs Pasteurized (Homogenized) Milk in general ...
