Dear Sir,
I am shocked by your absolute and negative stand on the issue of raw milk.
I am an industrial manufacturer and employer in this province. As CEO, I know that I don't always have the most up-to-date or nuanced view of every issue. For you to simply dismiss calls for a review of our policy on this issue is far too resolute. I have no financial interest in the milk industry, and do not own a share of the cows that Mr. Schmidt the Ontario farmer sells/leases. However I object strenuously to your automatic stance on this issue. I am about as mainstream a guy as you can find - and I want to know more about raw milk. I don't understand why you feel that shotguns, cigarettes and alcohol sales can be permitted while a substance that has been in the human diet for an estimated 10,000 years is not even worth considering. California and a majority of U.S. states and European countries do permit the sale of raw milk.
Shame on us for persecuting Mr. Schmidt - the sort of person that Ontario needs more of - knowledgeable organic farmers.
Sincerely,
Eric Lehner, CEO
