The Eleventh Day of Christmas - A Message from Michael |
Dear Friends of Glencolton Farms:
In a materialistic and opportunistically-oriented world it is almost
impossible to battle for basic principles of justice. Already in 1994,
when Glencolton Farms was challenged the first time, I recognized the
vulnerability of trying to protect property you think you own. Already
then, I was prepared to focus entirely on the issue without being
afraid of losing the farm. We came pretty close. We lost 75% of our
farm. It took us almost 12 years to rebuild.
Once again, I have to ask myself the same question: Am I willing to risk losing all of the farm to fight this battle about milk? Are we willing to risk what we have for the cause?
Looking again at so many lessons in history, we need to understand that only if we are prepared to sacrifice without fear our possessions, our security in life, are we able to act freely for the cause.
The answer to the question, how far am I prepared to go?, is simple:
If Glencolton Farms is destroyed as a result of this battle, then so be it.
Can you imagine the time and energy I would have, if I did not farm, to devote to the cause?
I am not afraid . . . change needs to happen . . . and change will happen if we are willing to sacrifice.
With lots of thanks
Michael Schmidt
