The Fifth Day Of Christmas - Message from Michael |
Dear Hazel Lynn, Chief Medical Officer of Health, Grey-Bruce-Owen Sound:
Dear Dr McQuigge, former Chief Medical Officer, G-B-O.S.:
Dear Friends of Glencolton Farms:
Let’s agree on one issue: the milk from Glencolton Farms has not
created any harm. It has not created an outbreak of dangerous disease
or any unnecessary cost to the local health unit, other than its
decision last week to start court actions against us. Whatever
triggers the panic in respect to raw milk needs to be addressed. It
needs to be addressed because I feel responsible, given that seem to be
the one at the root of the problem.
Glencolton Farms has been open to the public for the last 23 years . Dr. Hazel Lynn attended Symphony in the Barn and enjoyed it. Many friends come year after year to see, smell and experience what we are trying to do here. We performed a Gourmet Opera with some of Canada’s best chefs. We have wonderful concerts. We cultivate a profound reality here, i.e. that . . .
There is no Culture without Agriculture.
Anybody involved in this challenging conflict needs to look far beyond the food safety issues. We need to look at food as a cultural entity, as a ritual reality, as a social necessity, and as a local identity. This may sound strange, even weird. However, I am here at the farm much of the time to help anybody who wants to understand the entire issue better.
We will go together into the barn and listen, smell, and milk the cows. I promise that raw milk will be a revelation for even the most diehard experts.
Dear Doctors in charge of our public health and safety, let me know when you would like to come to the barn and I will be here for you.
With respect and in anticipation that I will hear from you soon,
Farmer Schmidt
